Paso Robles Wine Festival 2013: We Came, We Saw
A Hoot ‘n Annie Wine Run
So, Happy Day After Mother’s Day!
See, I think we can make everyday a Holiday of some sort and celebrate with alcohol and piñatas. Okay, maybe just the alcohol, no need to give a bunch of drunk adults baseball bats to swing blindly at a piñata…just seems like a bad idea.
Now back to a Hoot n Annie wine run… Read more…
I Get a Little Ego in This Wine
I suppose it’s true in every industry but one thing I’ve noticed in the wine industry is that there are a ton of super amazing, down to Earth people who would gladly give you the shirt off their back…BUT…I’ve also noticed there are a ton of people that think quite highly of themselves and would sooner spit their wine on you than converse with you. Wine Tasting At Venteux Vineyards
We recently made our way over to Venteux Vineyards in Templeton, just south of Paso Robles, to do some tasting. This is another one of those spots that we haven’t been to for some time so we’ve been trying to fix that. Read more…
Paso Robles Wine: Pear Valley Vineyards
I wish I had remembered to do a video while we were at Pear Valley Vineyards because it is amazingly beautiful out there but you’re going to have to rely on my words and the handful of photos you’ll find below. This is a great spot on the east side of Paso Robles on Union Road. The way the property is laid out you find yourself driving up this long driveway that’s absolutely surrounded by grape vines and rolling hills…amazing! Read more…
Paso Robles Wine: Villa Creek Cellars
A couple weeks back we headed out on the wine trail, imagine that. We ended up at Thacher (which we posted about on Monday) and finally made it out to Villa Creek Cellars. Villa Creek has been on our radar for some time for two reasons: 1.) when we’ve tried their wine at Villa Creek Restaurant we have really enjoyed them and, 2.) Cris and JoAnn Cherry (owners) are really cool folks. Read more…
Paso Robles Wine: Lone Madrone
Heard of it? Been there? The winemaker and co-owner of Lone Madrone, Neil Collins, is also the Executive Winemaker and Vineyard Manager at Tablas Creek here in Paso Robles. We’ve talked about Tablas Creek before on the blog but we haven’t really mentioned Lone Madrone much, if at all. So on our way home from Cambria this past weekend we decided to stop off and check them out again. It had been a while but we have visited their tasting room several times in the past. Read more…
Chronic and Gypsy Flame Pizza
Cool title eh?? Well, it’s true, we had some Chronic and pizza. Let me explain.
We recently headed over to Chronic Cellars (yes, a winery…what were you thinking?) for two reasons, 1) we hadn’t been there in over two years and 2) we heard Gypsy Flame would be there making some crazy good pizzas. Although, at the time I did not know they were crazy good since we had never had them before. Read more…
What To Do for Annie’s Birthday???
Soooooo…it was Annie’s birthday on the 29th of December and it was a bit different than normal because we have the adorable, amazing, cutie pie named Sammy which requires a little extra thought. I left it up to Annie for the most part and she had decided that we would go downtown right here in Paso Robles. Luckily for us, we absolutely love hanging out downtown, especially during the wintery Christmas time…it’s just beautiful. Read more…
Kung Pao Chicken and Moonstone Cellars Gewurztraminer
We want to start including more food and wine pairings here on HnA…some that work and probably some that won’t work; wine is an adventure after all.
While my sister and niece were visiting from Texas recently, Annie decided to make Kung Pau Chicken so we needed to find something to pair with it. Coincidentally we had been to Moonstone Cellars over in Cambria earlier that day and picked up their Gewurztraminer which ended up being our choice to go with this meal prepared by the lovely Annie. Before I pass it over to Annie to let her explain how she made the dish, I will say that I loved the meal and the pairing. The chicken was pretty spicy and the Gewurz cut it perfectly. This combo is already on my list to repeat!! Read more…
