Remember Sculpterra Winery from our recent posts?  http://www.sculpterra.com/ Well, we went back for one of their events called “Wine Art Artisans Unite”.  There was tons of wine flowing, art everywhere, tasty artisan foods out to try, and live music playing.  We hung out in the back patio area for a while, enjoying the peacefulness and watching people come and go.  We also got to watch one of our favorite local artists play – Louie Ortega!  http://www.louieortega.com/.  Louie sings and plays guitar and is truly a great artist, with Grammy awards and everything.

Sculpterra Winery – An oasis of art and beauty!

Posted by: Hoot 'n Annie   in wine

Imaging arriving at an oasis out in the middle of vineyards that was beautifully landscaped, had enormous, beautiful sculptures placed strategically around the grounds, and you can wander around all of this with a glass of good wine!  This is Sculpterra!  http://www.sculpterra.com/.  One of the cool things about this winery is the fact that the owner’s best friend is an incredible ironworker.  There’s a gate on your way up the tasting room that will knock your socks off!!!  Go there and check out the detail.  The tasting room actually used to be his iron working shop, and it’s been converted to the TR, complete with tons of beautiful details…like the wooden ceiling beams, adorned with intricate iron details and huge wooden doors with rustic yet elegant iron corners and finishings.

Okay, on to the wine…it’s good!  They’ve got a great spread, starting with whites (Sauv Blanc, Chardonnay and Viognier) and then on to reds.  They’ve got a Pinot Noir, the only one on the East side of Paso, that’s really good!  There’s a Mourvedre, a Zinfandel, some Syrah, and a couple of Cabernet Sauvignons (their flagship wine).  They also do some unique red blends, and a Primitivo Port!  Overall, we agreed that their wines were lighter, yet flavorful.

Get out to Sculpterra, try their wines, grab a glass and wander through the gardens!  This is definitely a beautiful spot!

Interesting stuff about Sculpterra:

- They have purse hooks!

- They make approximately 1800-1900 cases of wine a year

- They sell off about 90% of the grapes that they grow on their property

- They have acreage planted with pistachios which are served and sold in the TR (super goooood!!!)

- They do a lot of interesting events, keep an eye on their website for what’s coming!
