We just got back from the First Annual Central Coast Oyster Festival…I’m not sure what is going on but I think the Central Coast not only has the most bad ass events but we have the most bad ass event coordinators and organizers….seriously, I’m not kidding. After recently going to the first annual Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Festival that was handled so well for a virgin event…now this oyster thing…really? Yes, really.
You will see in the video and pictures below, but the setting and the set up of this oyster event was absolutely gorgeous. In one direction you see the beautiful fairways of the Morro Bay golf course and in the other you see Morro Bay with Morro Rock in the background; breathtaking AND the weather was 100% perfection!
What All Was There Besides Oysters?
This event, benefiting Options Family of Services, not only had oysters but they had a good selection of other foods, beer from Tap It Brewery out of San Luis Obispo, wine, and even some hard booze. There were three bands playing throughout the day and lifestyle booths to check out, including some of our favorite friends from Crush and Roll West (a cigar event that takes place in Paso Robles), as well as beautiful art displayed around the event.
One aspect that made this event stand out to us was how comfy and casual it was…people brought chairs and blankets to sit down in front of the stage to listen to the music but there were also other lounge areas set up…one under this huge structure of colorful fabrics (which provided shade) and the other lounge was at the Tap it Brewery truck.
The people watching was outstanding…not sure if it was the coastal influence but the hippy factor was alive and well, as was the typical “college” crowd that seems to end up a little sloshed, but hey…it gives me something to giggle at. All that being said the people were awesome; we saw a bunch of people we knew and met knew folks from out of the area…good times in paradise peeps!!
Get out there and explore, don’t get lazy and keep cool stuff to yourselves…let us know where we should be going next! Cheers!
Be sure to check out both the video AND slideshow so you don’t miss anything!
