Yeah, that’s right…on the 46 East and Buena Vista Block. Right where….shhhhh….Martin & Weyrich used to be. The building is still beautiful, yet with all new landscaping and trimmings! When you walk into the big, Tuscan-style tasting room, you’ll see all of San Antonio’s labels on display, along with some other cool “stuff”. In other words, it’s a great place to shop!
There’s a lot of history at San Antonio Winery, starting in 1917 when the Riboli family opened the winery’s doors in Los Angeles. The family business survived the prohibition period by producing sacramental wines, which they still sell. They’ve got vineyards here in Paso Robles, as well as in Southern California and produce over 500,000 cases under their multiple labels. It’s a pretty cool story, as the Riboli family still runs the business so they must be doing something right.

If you stop in to taste, be ready to make some decisions! There are 10 major labels with multiple varietals under each label to choose from. They also do sparkling wines, marsala wines, late harvest and port wines, as well as a couple of sangrias. The wine pourers were very helpful and knowledgeable so step right up and let them guide you through the San Antonio experience!

So glad San Antonio Winery came to Paso, I’ve been to the one in Los Angeles, (they have another one in Ontario, CA) we did a wine pairing lunch and it was fabulous so I bet ya they will have some pairing there too. Another plus is they have free tastings, along with a restaurant for lunch, dinner, the barrel room is used for the lunch pairing events.
We’re glad, too Bev! We’re looking forward to some food pairings here, we’ll keep you posted! In the meantime, they had some tasty cheese out in the tasting room that Annie ate most of! hehehe.

Nice to have them in SLO. I got to know them and did some work for them years ago, and it’s nice to have such a dedicated (and really, historic) wine family in the area.
