At Home with Cartlidge & Browne #1
We found Cartlidge & Browne on Facebook, because we liked their name. http://www.cartlidgeandbrowne.com/. We struck up a conversation with Elijah and Marc, and lo and behold, they wanted to share some of their wine with us. They’re very nice people, that happen to have a great sense of humor and are passionate about their wine so we were happy to give their juice a try and blog about it. Located in Amador County, Cartlidge & Browne has been around a long time, since 1980. Tonight, we opened their 2007 Zinfandel…in honor of the Paso Robles ZinFest! It was great, a lighter zin than we’re used to around here, but tasty. It has all the good stuff a Zin should, pepper, spice, cherry, and a touch of tobacco.
Check it out…

WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!! Thank you, Hoot and Annie for trying our wine!! We’re just downright thrilled about it.
So true about our Zin not being a little “lighter”…couple of things: it is fermented to dryness so no residual sugar which can add to a plumped up mouth feel. Also, the alcohol is only 14.2% which is pretty low for CA Zin–high alcohol also adds to a plumped up mouth feel! That is so Paul Moser’s style–a little more European. So if someone out there wants a “port-like” Zin this will not be it…but this Zin goes KILLER with BBQ and ANYTHING WITH A RED SAUCE! In fact many people say it reminds them of an Italian Primativo!
C&B Love,
Elijah
P.S. HAPPY SPRING!
